An alternative to the Organised Mum app

The Organised Mum app, now called TOM: The Organised Method, gives you a fixed cleaning routine with a room for each weekday. If you would rather have a planner that fits your chores around your own calendar, and also covers paperwork and people, SortYourMind is an alternative. Both aim for short sessions instead of a lost weekend.

The app many people know as the Organised Mum app, from Gemma Bray, is now listed as TOM: The Organised Method in the App Store. On Google Play it is still listed as The Organised Mum.

What TOM does well

  • A clear routine, so you never have to decide what to clean today
  • Short daily sessions instead of a whole weekend of cleaning
  • A Bootcamp to get started and deal with problem areas first
  • A deeper clean that rotates, so nothing is forgotten for long

A room-of-the-day routine in SortYourMind

If you like the idea of a set room on a set day, you can build it yourself: in SortYourMind each room is a theme and a routine can repeat on fixed weekdays. The app then looks for time for it around your appointments on that day.

  1. One theme per roomLiving room, bedrooms, hall and stairs, kitchen, bathroom.
  2. A routine on a fixed weekdayFor example the living room every Monday, thirty minutes.
  3. A short daily routineA quick tidy every day, at a time that suits you.
  4. Let the app find the timeIt places the blocks in your free time, and replans from now when your day changes.
