Todoist for household chores

Todoist works well for household chores if you want a to-do list: you type recurring tasks in plain language and you can share projects. It does not plan your chores into your free time by itself. SortYourMind does: it fits your chores, paperwork and plans with people around your calendar automatically.

What Todoist does well

  • Recurring tasks in plain language, such as every 2 weeks, also on the free plan
  • On almost every platform
  • Share projects and assign tasks
  • Connects with Google Calendar or Outlook

How to set up your household in Todoist

  1. One Household projectWith a section per room: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, paperwork. The free plan has five personal projects, so sections keep you within that.
  2. Recurring tasks in plain languageTodoist's help gives examples such as "every tuesday" and "every 2 weeks". With "every!" Todoist counts from the day you complete the task instead of from the fixed date.
  3. ShareShare the project with the people you live with and assign tasks.
  4. CalendarConnect Google Calendar or Outlook to see your appointments next to your tasks.
