Cleaning schedule
Cleaning schedule when you work full time
When you work full time, housework fits best into fifteen to twenty minutes on weekdays and one block of one to two hours at the weekend. On weekdays do only short, regular jobs, always at the same moment. Save vacuuming, mopping and the bathroom for the weekend block, or split them over two evenings.
A sample week when you work
| Day | What | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | A load of washing, kitchen after dinner | 20 min |
| Tuesday | Bathroom: sink, mirror, toilet | 15 min |
| Wednesday | Bins and recycling, check the fridge | 15 min |
| Thursday | A load of washing, hob, sweep the kitchen floor | 20 min |
| Friday | Ten-minute tidy, otherwise off | 10 min |
| Saturday | Block: vacuum, mop, shower, bedding | 90 min |
| Sunday | Off, or this week's monthly job | 0 to 30 min |
Five rules that save time
- A set moment, no decisionAlways straight after dinner or straight after you get home. Then you do not have to choose.
- Pair it with what you do anywayWipe the sink while the bath runs, put a wash on while you cook.
- One monthly job a weekOven in week 1, windows in week 2, drains in week 3. Never all in one weekend.
- Stop on timeTwenty minutes is twenty minutes. Whatever is not done will still be there tomorrow.
- Put it in your calendarWhat is in your calendar happens. Read how in household chores in your calendar.
When your week goes differently
A late meeting or a poorly child upsets any schedule. Drop the daily jobs first, never the weekend block. Or move the job to an evening when you do have time; that is exactly what time blocking at home makes easier.
How SortYourMind does it

SortYourMind reads when you are busy in Outlook or Google Calendar and puts your chores in your free time. When a day runs over, the app replans from now and moves what no longer fits to a later moment.
- SyMslots around your appointments, priority 1 first
- In Outlook also shown as busy in your calendar, without reminders
- Tell SyMon: "put the bathroom on Thursday, fifteen minutes"
