Cleaning schedule

Bathroom and toilet cleaning schedule

Wipe the sink twice a week. Clean the shower or bath, mirror, floor and toilet every week, and put the towels in the wash. Do the drains and descaling monthly, the sealant, grout and extractor fan every quarter. With four or more people at home, the shower and toilet are better done twice a week.

The weekly clean

  1. Air it and clear itWindow open or fan on. Bottles and bits off the edges and the floor.
  2. Let it soakSpray the shower, bath and toilet with cleaner and leave it while you do the rest.
  3. Mirror and sinkMirror first, then the sink and the taps.
  4. Rinse the shower or bathLimescale off with a soft brush, then squeegee it dry.
  5. Toilet lastFrom clean to dirty: flush handle and seat first, then the bowl. A separate cloth for the toilet.
  6. FloorVacuum or sweep, then mop towards the door.

Less limescale, less work

Much of the UK has hard water, so limescale builds up quickly on glass and taps. A few small habits save a lot of scrubbing.

  • Squeegee the glass and tiles after every shower: thirty seconds
  • Hang towels open so they dry
  • Leave the door or window open for a while after a shower
  • Descale the shower head and taps every month

How SortYourMind does it

Your home as rooms, each with its own rhythm

In SortYourMind every room in your home is a theme with its own chores. Routines get a rhythm and come back by themselves. The app finds time for them around your appointments, so the schedule does not just hang on the fridge but actually sits in your week.

  • Rooms as themes, along a fixed route through your home: you see at once where something is open
  • Routines on their rhythm: every week, every 4 days or on fixed weekdays
  • SyMslots: blocks in your free time, around your Outlook or Google calendar
  • When your day changes, the app replans from now and moves on what no longer fits
