Cleaning schedule
Kitchen cleaning schedule
In the kitchen you wash up and wipe the worktops and table every day. Twice a week you sweep the floor and wipe the hob. Every week you mop, take the bins out and check the fridge. The oven, the filters and the cupboards come round monthly or by season.

Rhythm for a household of two. With more people the busiest tasks come round more often, living alone a little less. Minutes are a rough guide.
The weekly clean in five steps
Work from top to bottom and from dry to wet. That way dirt falls on places you have not done yet.
- Clear and binsEverything on the worktop that does not belong there goes back. Bin bags and recycling out.
- Check the fridgeAnything past its date goes, shelves get a damp cloth. You also know straight away what goes on the shopping list.
- Cupboard doors, hob and worktopsHigh surfaces first, then the hob, then the worktops and the sink.
- Sweep or vacuumUnder the table and along the skirting boards too.
- MopLast, working backwards towards the door.
What you need
- All-purpose cleaner or warm water with washing-up liquid
- Degreaser for the hob and cooker hood
- Microfibre cloths, one for surfaces and one for glass
- A bucket and a mop or flat mop
- Bin bags and whatever your council uses for recycling
Small win
Washing up and wiping the worktop straight after dinner takes five minutes. Leave it until the morning and it feels twice as bad.
How SortYourMind does it
Your home as rooms, each with its own rhythm
In SortYourMind every room in your home is a theme with its own chores. Routines get a rhythm and come back by themselves. The app finds time for them around your appointments, so the schedule does not just hang on the fridge but actually sits in your week.
- Rooms as themes, along a fixed route through your home: you see at once where something is open
- Routines on their rhythm: every week, every 4 days or on fixed weekdays
- SyMslots: blocks in your free time, around your Outlook or Google calendar
- When your day changes, the app replans from now and moves on what no longer fits
