Mental load test
This test asks twenty questions about who thinks of things and plans them in your home, from shopping to birthdays. Fill it in on your own or together, each in your own column. You get an overview by area, see where you see things differently, and get a sharing list to print. Nothing is saved.
How to read the result
- For each question, "mostly me" counts as 100 percent of the thinking, "both of us" as half and "mostly the other person" as none. "Does not apply" is left out.
- Filled in together, you see two percentages: how each of you sees the split. Where they are far apart is where there is most to talk about.
- A high or low percentage is not a judgement. It only says where the thinking sits now.
And then?
Print the sharing list and choose one owner for each task. How to have that conversation is in sharing the mental load.
Good to know
This is a tool to think and talk about. It is not a psychological test and has no scientific value.
How SortYourMind does it
Less in your head, more in one place
SortYourMind keeps track of what you would otherwise have to remember. Routines come back by themselves on their rhythm, paperwork gets a moment in your week, and anything that depends on someone else you park until they reply. With Family, each person has their own account with their own plan; there is no shared task list.
- Routines on their rhythm: you do not have to remember when something is due
- Waiting for reply: you see who you are waiting on and when to follow up
- Seeing who you have not spoken to in a while
- Family: up to 5 accounts, each with their own plan
